High-Fidelity Conjugate Heat Transfer Simulation of Micro-Channel Heat Exchanger

In this study, high-fidelity conjugate heat transfer simulations are used to model a micro-channel exchanger (MCHE) in crossflow study its thermal-hydraulic performance. Three different microchannel geometries, namely circular, triangular, and square with louver-shaped fins, considered. The local flow field showed strong coupling between the flow, solid domain, crossflow. separation wake regions formed near MCHE resulted large variation velocity temperature interaction of region fins introduces significant spanwise variations, leading variations thermal boundary layer. conduction structure provided non-uniform higher slightly lower surface exposed analysis that internal geometry affects pressure drop, which is highest for triangular lowest circular MCHE. Based on effectiveness performance index calculations, exhibited best performance, while rectangular effectiveness.
